Waiting until last minute to do work

As the end of the semester is approaching students are becoming lazier and lazier. All they want to do is just get out of school. Personally I am not one of those people. I don't want to add anymore stress onto my life by waiting until almost the due date for a project to be done to start it. I would rather give up some part of my social life to get homework done and save myself some stress and unwanted technological errors. I personally get annoyed when people ask me to sit with them and teach them how to do specific projects when they had plenty of time to complete the project. Others manage to get the project done and still complete other homework assignments and such, why can't you? The way I feel is you waited until now you deserve to fail or get a low mark. I do not mind helping people with little things because yeah things come up and I understand that, but things don't come up everyday that make you put off homework all the time. Take responsibility for your work. What are you going to do when you are in the real world?

Piling on work at the end of the semester

I thought cramming work into the last part of the semester or school year was over when I left High School. As the end of the semester is approaching it seems like every teacher is adding more and more onto the already extensive workload. I know it increases chances of better grades, but it also increases stress levels and workload a tremendous amount. I think a little more spaced out curriculum or course outline would alleviate this problem a little. It would give students time to complete the assignment thoroughly and do a better job on it and not cause as much stress on what is due next or before the project you are working on is due. I know time managent and everything is a big part of college, but I think some teachers take it above and beyond a manageable amount of work.

Outdoor Pursuits Backpacking Trip

Being prepared with everything that I needed to survive was not the only thing I should of prepared for for the Backpacking Trip. By the end of the first night I just wanted to come home. I wanted nothing to do with backpacking up steep hills with a 40-50lb. backpack. I found myself thinking yea, this is very physically challenging, but it is also mentally challenging because we have to fight the fact that we want to go home and would rather be any place but in the woods. The first day backpacking through the woods I sprained my ankle. As much as I wanted to quit I knew I couldn't and I wouldn't let myself quit. After it is all said and done I look back on the trip and am very proud of the fact that having a sprained ankle didn't detour me from finishing the trip. I learned a lot about myself, including I am not a nature girl and I do not like climbing very steep hills with an extra 5olbs. on my back.

Parking at SRU

Does anyone else think that the parking situation at Slippery Rock is crazy? Trying to find a parking spot remotely close to your building is ridiculous. I live in Rock Apartments and personally there is a circle across from our building that is nearly all staff and there is only two or three cars parked there at a time. Please tell me, What staff member would park all the way over here and walk to their office or classroom location? Particularly to unload groceries or our cars from breaks we have to park a long distance away because there is no where to unload our cars. My roommate parked in a handicap zone with her flashers on to unload groceries and got $150.00 fine. What do they expect us to do? Park at the stadium and carry our groceries from there. Along with this lack of parking commuter parking is ridiculous. They have so many parking spots and only half of them are full at a time. It would just be more fair for the residents that live on campus to have more available parking.
